What is the role of the coach/counselor? At what hours can I work on the Plan? Do we ever talk to one another? How does the Plan help me obtain a job in a suitable career?
What kind of computer equipment do I need access to? You need one of the more recent computers, desktop or laptop, to obtain the best results from the Plan. A screen of at least 15-inches would be helpful, especially since the Plan involves a lot of typing as date entries. A DSL connection is preferable, but is not absolutely necessary. It might also prove useful to download a free version of the Adobe Reader. What kinds of computer skills do I need to complete this program? You need to have skills comparable to what is involved in taking care of e-mail. You do not have to know any computer languages. What kind of help can I obtain from my coach/counselor? Even though you have the responsibility of proceeding at your own rate, the coach/counselor monitors your compliance with the requirements of the Plan.. You will receive feedback at random times unless it appears that you need a more fixed schedule of assistance. In each of the Parts you will have scheduled sessions to discuss your performance. You can ask for help by means of the computer at any time. Your coach will make an effort to a reply before 48 hours have elapsed. If more pressing need to contact us occurs, call collect between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.. Be sure to leave a return number, if it prove necessary. What if I do not want to continue my enrollment in the Plan? Before you decide to register for the Plan, you should do a pre-counseling assessment such as offered by mjaffe@cuyahoga.lib.oh.us. This could help you determine whether you need to work for a job or a career. The Plan is career-oriented with a job search feature. If you have selected the entire Plan, and have completed the first Part, but do not want to attempt Part Two, you should discuss with your coach/counselor whether you should continue. If you decide not to continue, then you are to write a letter expressing your reasons for this decision. Matters of serious consequence will receive careful consideration. How long does it take to complete each Part of the Plan? Part One: Self-assessment, should require about ten hours at the most; Part Two, Job Search, on the other hand, could take as long as six months. What is the role of the coach/counselor? Your coach/counselor has a number of functions to perform: s/he will search for themes in your work life that you are unaware of, suggest links that might prove useful in your job search, provide all manner of supplementary information not stated directly in the Plan, and serve as a professional listener in regard to work-related problems. At what hours can I work on the Plan? One of the helpful aspects of the Plan is that it is operative 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. You can enter material to use in your career progress whenever you want to. Be sure to remember your user name and password, however. Do we ever get to see each other? If you have a Webcam, we can connect at any time that is convenient for both of us. If not, you have my picture in Staff. You can post an image and send it to me for inclusion in your file. If you want to converse by means of one of the messenger chat rooms, we can do that, too. How does the Plan help me find a job in a suitable career? One assumption behind the creation of the Plan was the thought that locating possible careers for a client was not sufficient, that help in implementing that career choice was a desirable feature of any assistance. The Plan links a careful determination of suitable career targets with a process of searching for a position in that field. The Plan does not function as a jb placement agency.
