About Capstone Plan

The CAPSTONE PLAN represents a unique coaching/counseling system offered by means of the computer. It enables the individual who does not live near a coach or a counselor to take advantage of the professional expertise of such a person over great distances. The client follows the steps laid out in the PLAN, which parallel the process found in a face-to-face session. The author has made every effort to approximate best practices in his construction of the PLAN, and it follows a course of action which consists principally of personal assessment and job search. Considerable involvement by the client is an important requirement.

The PLAN avoids the use of excessive multiple tests. While it does ask for information on one test-like instrument, the emphasis is on viewing you the client, as an individual unique in your own way. It is the task of the coach/counselor to help you increase in self-awareness of the interests, competencies, and values you have acquired over your lifetime. This is accomplished through posing questions that prompt you to provide as complete an answer as you can construct. The program allows for, and encourages, lengthy replies so that your perception of the world of work becomes the focus of the assistance offered.

Once we have determined how best to help you reach your desired career goal, then we suggest the strategic means to locate and successfully obtain that goal through state of the art resume preparation, construction of a professional portfolio, and interview techniques. While completion of the PLAN does not guarantee obtaining the ideal job, you will have identified at least three occupations for which you are qualified.
